Bitcoin price currently trades 35% below its record peak of $126,000. When will BTC again reclaim its all-time high?
Based on market cycle patterns, popular analyst Root suggests it could be by June 2027. Here’s how the analyst comes up with this timeline.
Cycle History Suggests a New All-Time High For Bitcoin in 8 Months
Root, who writes the Bitcoin Strategy newsletter, compared the current recovery with three previous cycles.
Historically, Bitcoin needed around 2 years from the bottom to enter a phase of setting new highs.
However, the last cycle broke that pattern. The spot ETF approval pushed BTC to fresh highs far earlier.
“If Bitcoin follows a similar recovery trajectory as previous cycles, instead of the historical two years, we should reach new ATHs by around the one-year mark at the latest, around June 2027.”
His chart shows the 2015, 2018, and 2022 cycles all moved above the scaled ATH level by roughly day 350.
The 2018 cycle got there first, near day 150. Therefore, Root sees a possible window roughly two to six months from now.
Why This Cycle Needs a Smaller Rally
The current setup also asks less of the market. Bitcoin fell roughly 52% from its October 2025 peak to a 2026 low near $60,000.
In contrast, the previous three bear markets erased between 77% and 85% of BTC’s value. As a result, Bitcoin needs only about a 2x move from its bottom to set a new record.
Past cycles completed a comparable move within about a year. This timing also fits other halving cycle signals.
Channel Analysis Targets Bitcoin All-Time High at $170,000
Analyst Philarekt offers a longer view. On the three-week chart, BTC has traded inside one ascending channel since 2021.
According to the analyst, every bottom and every top has formed higher than the last. The 2026 low bounced off channel support, and the next ATH on the chart sits near $170,000.
Notably, his projected path also shows BTC briefly clearing $126,000 around mid-2027. The full cycle peak then arrives in 2028, which broadly aligns with Root’s timeline.
What Could Slow the Recovery
Both models depend on the bottom being in. Binance Research found that similar rebounds retested their lows in four of five past cases.
Returns are also shrinking. The 2021 to 2025 move between peaks was about 83%, while a $170,000 top would deliver roughly 35%. Moreover, each channel boundary rests on only two touches.
Some analysts question the cycle itself. Willy Woo has argued Bitcoin may abandon the four-year rhythm for a longer TradFi cycle. Root also flags rising rates and their effect on the business cycle.
Taken together, the data suggest BTC could reclaim $126,000 in 2027, while the larger cycle peak may wait until 2028.
